This site is a personal archive of paintings and writing. It is not a business, it sells nothing, and it collects as little as it can. This page says what it does collect, why, and how to have it removed.
If you leave a comment or sign the guestbook
You are asked for a name and an email address, and you may add a website. Your email address is never published. Along with your message, the site records your IP address and browser user agent, which are used to tell real messages from the considerable amount of spam that arrives.
Comments and guestbook entries are checked by Akismet, a spam filtering service run by Automattic, which means the message and those details are sent to them for that check. Their privacy policy is at automattic.com/privacy.
If your email address is registered with Gravatar, a scrambled form of it is sent to that service to fetch your profile picture, which then appears beside your comment.
Comments and guestbook entries are kept indefinitely, so that a reply years later still makes sense. You can ask for yours to be removed at any time.
If you only read
Google Analytics is used to see which paintings and pages people look at. It sets cookies and records the pages you visit, roughly where in the world you are, and what kind of device you use. This is Google’s service, governed by their privacy policy. If you would rather not be counted, Google offers a browser add-on that opts you out.
WP Statistics counts visits on this server rather than sending them anywhere. It records the page visited and the referring site. IP addresses are anonymised before being stored, so a visit cannot be traced back to a particular person.
What this site does not do
- It shows no advertising.
- It sells nothing and takes no payments.
- It has no newsletter and no mailing list.
- Nobody can register an account.
- It embeds no videos or social media players, so no third party is watching you read.
- It does not sell, rent, or share your details with anyone, beyond the spam check and analytics described above.
The Chinese-language blog linked in the footer is a separate site with its own settings, and it does show advertising. What is written here covers this site only.
Asking for your data, or its removal
Write to [email protected] and ask. You can have a copy of anything held about you, or have it deleted — a comment, a guestbook entry, or both. No reason is needed, and it will not be treated as a complaint.
If you are in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or California, this is a right you have in law. Everywhere else you have it here anyway.
