And thirteen years before that, Bayard Rustin was arrested for refusing to budge on a segregated bus in Kentucky.

Rustin – a gay former communist
Rosa Parks – a secretary at the NAACP. Dignified, middle class, and respectable.
\u201cThey put her out front just because of what she looked like – that\u2019s what the white man did discriminating against us. That don\u2019t seem right. You being pretentious.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

\u56e0\u70ba\u7f85\u838e\u00b7\u5e15\u514b\u65af\u662f\u50f1\u4e3b\u5011\u7684\u7406\u60f3\u54e1\u5de5\uff0c\u662f\u4e00\u500b\u7aef\u838a\u3001\u4ee4\u4eba\u656c\u4ef0\u7684\u4e2d\u7522\u968e\u7d1a\u3002
\u5982\u679c\u8981\u70ba\u6c11\u904b\u9078\u6a19\u8a8c\u6027\u7684\u4eba\u7269\uff0c\u7f85\u838e\u00b7\u5e15\u514b\u65af\u7576\u7136\u662f\u4e00\u500b\u80fd\u5f15\u8d77\u5171\u9cf4\u7684\u5178\u578b\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beginning with a boycott of downtown stores, the campaign continued with smaller sit-ins and marches. When momentum seemed to wane, Dr.King made the controversial decision to be arrested himself.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

\u6709\u4e00\u665a\uff0c\u99ac\u4e01\u00b7\u8def\u5fb7\u00b7\u91d1\u7684\u623f\u5b50\u88ab\u70b8\u4e86\u3002\u4ed6\u52f8\u4ed6\u7684\u652f\u6301\u8005\u653e\u4e0b\u6b66\u5668\u56de\u5bb6\uff0c\u800c\u4e0d\u662f\u4ee5\u66b4\u5236\u66b4\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Standing in the January chill, Dr. King reassured everyone that he, Coretta, and their baby girl were unhurt. He told everyone to go home and put away their weapons. There would be no retaliation – they would not answer violence with violence.
